Tasteful Sideboob [ Castle Board Game Cafe, Toronto ]

This Cards Against Humanity card sums up what happened during my visit to Castle board game cafe.

The air was frosty when we arrived, but we managed to make the walk from a too-far-away subway station and settle down for an afternoon of sweets and sweet board games. At Castle, they charge $2.50 per hour, per person plus food and drinks. This prevents the problem at Snakes and Lattes of people camping all day for their $5 flat rate and the possibility of never getting a seat.

I love the cozy atmosphere of mis-matched wall paper, large couches, and hardwood. In the middle pciture above, the cafe actually continues into another room for even more seating in the back. The fully-windowed storefront makes for great blogger lighting, but the space is well-lit throughout so that isn't a problem.

I enjoy the convenient location. The Spadina area is my go-to neighborhood thanks to the sheer amount of food in the area. Not only is Chinatown steps away from the subway, Kensington is a stone's throw away too. But since it'll be quite pricey to spend a whole day at Caste, it's nice to have alternative things to explore within walking distance.

We stayed for two hours ($5 per person) and ordered a few things to munch on while we played.

Chocolate Cheesecake! They feature different cheesecakes and they range from about $4 to $5.

Nutella Latte ($5) is a good size, but tasted more latte rather than Nutella. We could probably make a nicer one from home.

I would visit again from it's location. If you don't plan on staying for more than two hours, it's definitely worth it. Otherwise, Snakes and Lattes. I wish these board game cafes would have more shareable menu items for groups! It would be much more cost effective than ordering a $6 sandiwch per person. Or you can walk down the street to Kensington for some bites beforehand.

Until next post!
